DePaul Community Resources is hiring three full-time Direct Support Professionals for its Day Program in the Fishersville office.
JOB SUMMARY
Provide day support services to adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Provide engaging activities and teach basic life skills (i.e., safety, hygiene, socialization) in the community and at the day program center. Participate in developing and implementing individuals' service plans and quarterly reviews. Collaborate with teammates and plan and prepare a monthly activity calendar with participant input and suggestions that provide engaging daily activities for participants assigned independently or as a group when necessary. Follow and abide by all personnel and program policies and procedures, including confidentiality. Carry out all goals and outcomes as stated in the client's Individual Service Plan, including providing support for personal care needs such as assistance for eating, toileting, personal hygiene, supervision, and assistance in administering all participant medications and documenting in the Medication Administration Records. Transport clients to and from day support activities in a company vehicle.
TRAINING, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
Direct Support Professionals must have a minimum of a high school diploma, a general education diploma, and some experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or an equivalent combination of training/education and/or experience required. A valid driver's license and five years of driving experience with no major driving violations in the last five years are required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must submit before hiring a current MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that complies with DePaul driver policy. Must be willing to have a criminal and Child Protective Services (CPS) background report conducted upon hire. The applicant shall not have been convicted on any barrier crime(s) on the criminal background report. The applicant will have no founded disposition of child abuse or neglect as documented by the CPS background report. A PPD test or chest x-ray indicating the absence of TB will be required. A pre-employment drug screening is required. Inadequate, incomplete, or failing reports or outcomes in any of the aforementioned will result in canceling the recruitment process, rescinding any job offer, or termination of employment. Must be able to transport residents in DePaul or personal vehicle as needed. Must obtain certification in First Aid, CPR, and crisis management of challenging behaviors and administration of medication. The applicant must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds from the floor to waist-high.
